Engagement Photos at Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park
Redwood Trees are probably one of my favorite things to see. Growing up in Southern California, I surprisingly never actually visited any of the Redwood Parks (unless I was too young to remember) but when I moved to Oregon, it was one of the first things I had to do. The trees always take my breathe away and they still have me in awe every time I am able to make a trip to go see them. So when Christina reached out and said they were headed to Crescent City, California and wanted to take some engagement photos at the Redwoods, I of course was 1000% down!
We had beautiful and perfect weather, not too hot, not cold. The light was doing all the magical things it does when it comes through the trees and the Redwoods did not disappoint. I will always take any opportunity to shoot here because the beauty is unreal. We frolicked around the trees and chatted away. Christina is an AMAZING tattoo artist so if you are in North Dakota area, definitely check her out on instagram @knapp.time90. She chose this beautiful red dress that stood out amazingly in the Redwoods, especially with the sun coming through the trees.
Another thing I love about this spot in particular, is that Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is practically on the boarder of California and Oregon. And if youβve never been to the Oregon Coast, you are missing out. Brookings, Oregon is about a 30 minute drive north of Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park and that is where Samuel H. Boardman state Scenic Corridor begins. If you want to be blown away by the Oregon coast, adding this strip of 12 miles to your itinerary is a must. Since Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park is so close to Samuel H. Boardman State Scenic Corridor, this is the perfect spot to Elope if you want both coast and forest. You could start off by doing a private ceremony at the Redwoods, run around and take some photos, then head north, to the Oregon Coast and get some amazing coastal views and plunging cliffs at sunset! You get the best of both worlds! I promise it wonβt disappoint.
