Hug Point Elopement | Katrina + Conor |

Sunset Oregon Coast Elopement at Hug Point

One of my all time favorite beaches in Oregon is Hug Point. I think it has a perfect mix of all things Oregon as well the perfect mix of all things coastal. I definitely have this on my list of best places to elope in Oregon!

Katrina and Conor initially contacted me to do an engagement shoot in May of 2022. Since Katrina was coming from Canada, after a few back and fourth emails and seeing the rising numbers of covid cases, she wasn’t to sure what quarantine restrictions would be applied during their visit so she decided to postpone. A few months later I get another email from her and she said that Conor and her are actually able to do the trip originally planned but instead of engagement photos, they decided they wanted to ELOPE on the Oregon coast instead! You can imagine how excited I was for them as well as the fact that I love elopements so so much! We were about a month and a half away from their trip to Oregon so we got on the planning right away.

Luckily Katrina and Conor wanted to stick with a simple ceremony, just something intimate at the beach. I told her I couldn’t recommend Hug Point enough for an intimate elopement! With breathtaking cliffs that have such amazing details in the rocks, to a secret waterfall that is literally ON the beach (which can only be accessed at low tide), it had the perfect combo of Oregon coast in one location. Though this location does get busier when it’s summer, on the off season you could literally be the only one on this beach which gives a more private ceremony!

The only real request Katrina and Conor wanted on their elopement day was wanting to put emphasis on the adventure of the day. They love to travel on their free time and have been all over together, so they really wanted to take pictures at as many locations as they could make possible within that area of the coast. So that is exactly what we did!

Katrina and Conor got ready at their Airbnb right off of Cannon beach with the view of Haystack Rock right from the living room windows. The Airbnb had a perfect little grassy patch right off the back deck that looked onto Cannon beach so we did the first look right there. Then we were able to walk down the steps to take some photos on the beach. After that we hopped in the car and did a few location stops before the ceremony. Once they cut the cake and ate a few bites of pizza back at the Airbnb, we all headed to Hug Point for their ceremony!

The ceremony was simple and intimate just like they hoped! With Katrina’s parents and sister by their side, they exchanged their vows right by the waterfall on Hug Point beach. After, we took some sunset photos and ran around the beach. We wrapped up the night by heading back to Cannon Beach one last time for some blue hour photos.

Some words from Katrina…

What did you love about your wedding location(s)?

That we were able to hear the crashing ocean waves along with the trickling of the waterfall behind us which was so calming.

What memory from your wedding do you remember the most strongly?

Running towards the ocean holding hands without any care in the world if we ruined our outfits because it was all about that day and moment.

What advice would you give to future couples who are getting married?

That it's possible to elope and have a dream wedding all in one. An elopement wedding doesn't mean any less and I believe we got some amazing wedding photos (courtesy of Seraphina) to prove it!

Katrina and Conor, thank you so much for allowing me to be part of your day!
