Oregon Adventure Elopement at God’s Thumb

Oregon has such vast different landscapes throughout the state and it still blows my mind! Any new location I got to, I am reminded of why my husband and I decided to move to Oregon, and this location was one of those reminders.

God’s Thumb is a hike in Lincoln City on the coast of Oregon and is pretty famous for the “thumb” landscape that you can see in these photos! It’s a 4.3 mile hike roundtrip, pretty moderate, but when it’s rainy like it was on this day, it can be very slippery. It rained all morning and most afternoon on this day. There were definitely a few moments that we were slipping and sliding and hanging onto each other for support. But we made it to the top. It had stopped raining when we got to the beginning of the hike but the cloud coverage continued. When we climbed up onto the ledge area, it started raining again and just when we thought to take a break and take cover under some trees, the sun all of a sudden peaked out and we were left with some warmer tones! It was beautiful and so worth it!

God’s Thumb is extraordinary with the waves crashing up against the rocks below us. You can see miles of the Oregon coast and it is so beautiful to see. We went during the late fall, but during spring and early summer the grass is a deep green which just gives me such Ireland vibes. Definitely take weather into count when hiking here. Though sometimes weather comes unpredictably, having the right shoes or boots to hike up a maybe muddy hike is recommended.
